THE challenge of the Hunter's skills shortage has prompted the establishment of a purpose-built recruitment and personnel service in the region.

IPA Personnel regional manager Ryan Fitzpatrick said the Hamilton office, which opened this week, would focus specifically on the modern Hunter market.

"The challenge for a recruitment agency that wants to contribute to this region is about identifying skills requirements," Mr Fitzpatrick said.

"With the assistance of our national network the IPA Newcastle team has established an agency that is working with our clients to help place people with the necessary skills that match a changing employment sector in the Hunter," he said.

The company's managing director, David Fowler, said the Hunter was a complex mix of primary, secondary and tertiary industries and commerce.

"We look to local professionals that provide local solutions to client needs," he said.
