Research The Recruitment Agency First
Thursday January 22, 2009
Just searching for a recruitment agency and choosing the first one you find isn't enough. Once you have found a recruitment agency that is specialising in your industry, you will also need to find out what the opinion of that recruitment agency is in your industry.
Looking on forums and in professional journals for your industry, you should be able to find opinions on the most popular recruitment agencies for your field. Be sure to pay attention to the opinions of both employers and employees. Employers talking about a recruitment agency in a negative way are unlikely to use them again, so if you find an employer you would like to target badmouthing a recruitment agency, look for a different recruitment agency. Employees will let you know how quickly a recruitment agency can find you appropriate work and how helpful they are.
When looking at opinions on a recruitment agency, keep in mind that there will always be more negative opinions than positive ones. This is largely due to the fact that people happy with a service are unlikely to feel motivated to comment on it. Do not discount a recruitment agency based on it having more negative comments written against it than good. Instead, read what every opinion you find has to say and make a judgement on the recruitment agency from there.
